Why Do You Expect Me to Wait for Someone Who Doesn't Give?

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where someone is expecting something from you, despite not being willing to give anything in return? I know I have. In fact, it happened recently when discussing fast charging and its potential risks with someone.

The person in question refused to answer my question about the safety of charging their phone while it's in their pocket. Instead, they chose to make snide comments and attack me personally. When I pointed out that we both had bad experiences with different types of charging (slow and fast), they accused me of trolling and blamed me for not doing something 'days ago' without explaining what that meant.

What struck me as particularly frustrating was their insistence that only my opinion mattered, while dismissing mine completely. They claimed to have experienced a swollen battery after using a phone with fast charging, but when I shared my own experience with slow charging phones becoming unusable, they ignored it.

It's this kind of one-sided expectation and lack of empathy that can be exhausting. Why do we always have to wait for someone who doesn't give? Can't we just have a respectful conversation where both parties are heard and understood?

I'm not asking for much. I just want to be treated with respect and kindness, even when our opinions differ. And if someone is unwilling to listen or respond thoughtfully, maybe it's time to reevaluate the relationship.

After all, no one likes being taken advantage of or ignored. It's time we start setting boundaries and expecting more from each other. So, next time you find yourself in a situation where someone is not giving, take a step back and assess whether it's worth waiting for them. Your mental health might just thank you.
